Add Name and Date on Photo and Change Background – Free Online Tool
Get your photo ready for any exam or job application form in one place. Upload your photo, change the background to white or any colour, add your name and the date below it, set the right size and KB limit, and download. It takes less than a minute.
Many application forms ask for a recent photo with a plain, light background and the candidate’s name and date printed below it. This tool does all of that together, with no Photoshop, photo studio or app needed. Everything happens inside your browser, so your photo is never uploaded to any server.
How to Use This Tool
- Upload your photo. Tap Choose photo, drag and drop it, or paste it with Ctrl+V.
- Change the background (optional). Under Background, choose white, light blue, blue, grey, red, green or any custom colour. The tool finds you in the photo and replaces everything behind you. Choose Original to keep the background as it is.
- Type your name. Choose whether it appears exactly as typed or in CAPITAL LETTERS.
- Select the date. Today’s date is filled in automatically. Change it to the date your photo was taken if your form asks for that.
- Pick the date format. Choose 01-01-2026, 01/01/2026, 01.01.2026 or 1 Jan 2026.
- Choose the photo size and file size. Select Passport, Square, Small or a custom size, and set your form’s minimum and maximum KB.
- Adjust and download. Drag the photo to position your face, zoom if needed, then click Download photo.
Change Photo Background to White or Any Colour
A busy or dark background is one of the most common reasons photos get rejected. With this tool, you can change your photo’s background in one click:
- White or off-white, the most common choice for application forms
- Light blue, sky blue and blue
- Light grey, red and green
- Any custom colour using the colour picker
The background remover works best with clear photos of people, such as head-and-shoulder or passport-style photos. The first time you use it, it downloads a small file of about 6 MB; after that, it works much faster. For difficult photos where a touch-up is needed, use our Change Photo Background tool, which has a brush to fix any area by hand.
Add Your Name and Date Below the Photo
Your name and date are printed in bold, centred black text on a white strip below the photo, inside a neat black border. This is the format commonly used in application forms. You can:
- Show your name, the date, or both
- Print your name in CAPITAL LETTERS
- Choose from four date formats
- Make the text small, medium or large. Long names shrink automatically to fit.
- Type your name in Hindi or any other Indian language
Set the Right Photo Size and KB Limit
- Ready-made sizes: Passport (3.5 × 4.5 cm), Square (600 × 600 px), Small (200 × 230 px), or any custom size in pixels.
- KB limit control: keep your photo between your form’s minimum and maximum KB. If it comes out too small, one click increases the file size without changing how the photo looks.
- Border on or off: add a black border around the photo, or leave it plain.
- Crop, zoom and rotate: position your face exactly and fix sideways photos.
Why Forms Ask for a Photo with Name, Date and Plain Background
Recruitment bodies and exam conducting agencies often set rules for uploaded photos, to make identity checks easier at the exam centre and during document verification. Common requirements include:
- A recent photo, often with the date the photo was taken printed on it
- The candidate’s name printed below the photo
- A plain white or light-coloured background
- A specific size and file size in KB
Requirements differ from form to form, so always read your official notification carefully and set the tool to match it.
Tips for a Photo That Won’t Get Rejected
- Use a recent, clear photo taken in good light, facing the camera.
- Choose a white or light background, unless your form asks for a different colour.
- Keep your face clearly visible and centred, without caps or dark glasses, unless worn for religious reasons.
- Use the same name as in your application form, with the same spelling.
- Use the date the photo was taken, if your form asks for the date of photograph.
- Check the size and KB limit given in the notification.
- Save the final photo safely, because you may need it again for your admit card or document verification.
Your Photo Stays Private
This tool works entirely in your browser, including the background remover. Your photo, name and date are never uploaded, stored or shared. When you close the page, nothing is kept.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
How do I add my name and date on a photo online?
Upload your photo, type your name, select the date, and click Download photo. The tool adds your name and date in a white strip below the photo automatically.
Which date should I write on my photo?
Most forms ask for the date the photo was taken (date of photograph). Some ask for a different date. Follow the instructions in your notification.
Can I write my name in capital letters?
Yes. Select CAPITAL LETTERS and your name is printed in capitals, whatever way you typed it.
What size will my photo be?
Choose from Passport (3.5 × 4.5 cm), Square (600 × 600 px) or Small (200 × 230 px), or enter your own size in pixels. The name and date fit inside the size you choose.
My photo is below the minimum KB. What should I do?
Click the Increase file to … KB button that appears. It raises the file size to meet the minimum without changing how the photo looks.
Can I add only the date and not the name?
Yes. Untick Name under Show to print only the date, or untick Date to print only the name.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes. It works on Android and iPhone browsers. You can upload a photo from your gallery or camera and download the result directly.
Is it free?
Yes. It’s completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark, and no limit on how many photos you create.
How do I change my photo background to white?
After uploading your photo, select White under Background. The tool removes the old background and replaces it with white in a few seconds.
Can I change the background and add my name and date together?
Yes. Choose a background colour, type your name and date, and download. The final photo has both the new background and your name and date.
Why does the background change take a few seconds the first time?
The tool downloads its background remover (about 6 MB) the first time you use it. It then works on your own device, which keeps your photo private. After that, it’s much faster.
The background was not removed properly. What should I do?
Use a clearer photo with good light and some space between you and the background. For a hand touch-up, use our Change Photo Background tool, which has a brush to fix any area, then add your name and date here.
