Official Details Mentioned in Railway Board Letter

The Railway Board letter number 2023/E(RRB)/25/38-A dated 16.04.2026 was addressed to all General Managers of Indian Railways, Production Units, DG/RDSO, and Chairpersons of all Railway Recruitment Boards.

The notification also refers to the earlier Railway Board letter RRCB No.10/2003 dated 04.06.2003, under which the old 70:30 weightage system was followed.

Earlier Aptitude Test Procedure

The attached old Railway Board procedure document explained that candidates appearing for safety category posts were required to qualify both the Written Test and the Aptitude Test separately. It also mentioned that marks of the Written Test and Aptitude Test were combined to prepare the merit list.

The old procedure further stated that the Psycho Test would henceforth be called “Aptitude Test.”

Posts Mentioned for Aptitude Test

The older Railway Board document attached to the latest notice mentioned the following categories for Aptitude Test:

  • Assistant Driver (Diesel/Electric)
  • Motorman (EMU/MEMU/DMU)
  • ASM

The document also included provisions related to in-service promotion categories.

Important Point for ALP Candidates

Candidates preparing for the upcoming RRB Assistant Loco Pilot recruitment should note that CBAT will now carry equal importance as the 2nd Stage CBT Part-A examination. This means performance in both stages will play a major role in final merit preparation under the new recruitment procedure.
