CBSE 12th Class Scanned Answer Book, Verification & Re-Evaluation: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released an official notice regarding post result declaration facilities for Class 12 students for the 2025-26 session. The notice explains the process for obtaining scanned copies of evaluated answer books, verification of issues observed, and re-evaluation of answers after declaration of results.
According to the notice, CBSE has introduced On-Screen Marking (OSM) for the evaluation of Class XII answer books in Board Examinations 2026. Under this system, answer scripts are assessed digitally on computer screens instead of physical copies. CBSE stated that the system helps maintain secrecy, reduces manual handling, minimizes errors, promotes transparency, and supports paperless evaluation.

Benefits of On-Screen Marking (OSM)
CBSE mentioned several benefits of the On-Screen Marking system introduced for the evaluation of Class 12 answer books.

CBSE Two-Stage Post Result Process
CBSE has introduced a two-stage process for students after the declaration of Class 12 results.
Stage 1: Students can request a scanned copy of the evaluated answer book of the desired subjects.
Stage 2: Students who have already applied for scanned copies can apply for:
- Verification of issues observed
- Re-evaluation of answers

CBSE also mentioned that online processes can be completed on holidays as well.
General Guidelines Issued by CBSE
CBSE stated that the complete application process and fee payment will be online only. No offline application will be accepted after the scheduled date and time.
The Board also clarified that processing charges can only be paid through online methods such as Credit Card, Debit Card, or Net Banking. Applications submitted incorrectly or not according to CBSE instructions may be rejected without any correspondence with the candidate.
Students can submit only one application for each step. Multiple applications for the same step will not be accepted. The Board also stated that even a decrease of one mark after re-evaluation will be implemented.
If marks change after verification or re-evaluation, candidates will have to surrender the original Mark Statement cum Certificate, after which a revised certificate will be issued.

Rules for Obtaining Scanned Copy of the Answer Book
CBSE stated that students themselves should submit the application and ensure correct submission details. The scanned copy of the evaluated answer book will be made available in the candidate’s login for download.
The Board also informed that scanned copies will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Candidates applying on the first day may receive their scanned copy earlier.
Students can apply for single or multiple subjects, but the application must be submitted in one go and not in parts.
CBSE further clarified that only those candidates who apply for scanned copies of answer books will be eligible for the next step of verification and re-evaluation.
Verification and Re-Evaluation Process
Only candidates who have applied for a photocopy/ scanned copy of answer books can apply for verification of issues observed and re-evaluation.
Students have been advised to refer to the marking scheme and question paper available on the CBSE website before submitting a re-evaluation request. Applications for re-evaluation must clearly mention the questions being challenged, along with proper reasoning.
CBSE stated that the result of re-evaluation will be final, and no appeal or review against the decision will be entertained.

What Students Should Check in the Answer Book
After receiving the scanned answer book, students should carefully check the following:
- Whether the answer book belongs to them
- Whether all pages are included
- Whether supplementary sheets are included, if used
- Whether graph sheets are included, if used
- Whether the answer book is properly scanned
- Any other issue that can be clearly identified
Important Instructions for Students
- Applications will be accepted only online
- No requests after the last date will be accepted
- Incorrect or late applications may be rejected
- Re-evaluation requests under the RTI Act 2005 will not be entertained
- Scanned copies of answer books can be provided under the RTI Act 2005
- The decision of CBSE on awarded marks will be final and binding
