What is Chirayu Ayushman Bharat Yojana?

Chirayu is Haryana’s own extension of the central Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY scheme. It was launched on 21 November 2022 to give health cover to families who were not part of the central scheme’s list, and the treatment is provided through the Ayushman Bharat Haryana Health Protection Authority at empanelled hospitals across the state.

Families with a verified annual income of up to ₹1.8 lakh are covered free of cost. In August 2023, the scheme was extended to families earning between ₹1.8 lakh and ₹3 lakh against a nominal annual contribution. Now, in 2026, the state has opened the scheme to all higher-income families as well.

What’s New in 2026

The Haryana Government has expanded the scheme so that families with annual income above ₹1.8 lakh can avail cashless healthcare by paying an annual premium that depends on their income. Your eligibility and premium slab are decided on the basis of the verified annual income recorded in your Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP / Family ID), not on a certificate you submit separately.

Premium Rates (Income Slab-wise)

Annual Family Income (as per PPP)Premium per Year
Up to ₹1.80 lakhFree (existing Chirayu beneficiaries)
₹1.80 lakh to ₹3 lakh₹1,500
₹3 lakh to ₹6 lakh₹4,000
Above ₹6 lakh₹5,000

The premium is per family per year, and every enrolled family gets the same cover: cashless treatment of up to ₹5 lakh per year at empanelled hospitals.

Eligibility (पात्रता)

  • You must be a resident of Haryana with a valid Parivar Pehchan Patra (Family ID)
  • Your family’s verified annual income in the PPP decides which category you fall under
  • Families with income above ₹1.8 lakh can now enrol by paying the premium for their slab
  • Families with income up to ₹1.8 lakh continue to be covered free of cost

Because the whole process runs on your PPP data, an outdated or wrong income entry in your Family ID can put you in the wrong slab or show you as ineligible. If your income details have changed, get them corrected on the PPP portal before you apply.

Documents Required

  • Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP / Family ID): the most important document, since the application cannot proceed without it
  • Mobile number registered with your PPP ID (an OTP is sent here)
  • Aadhaar card of the family members
  • Online payment method (UPI, net banking, or card) to pay the premium

How to Apply Online

Applications run through the official Chirayu portal. These steps are based on how the portal has worked in previous enrolment rounds, so follow the on-screen prompts if any screen looks slightly different this year.
