JNVST 2026 Class 6 Admission: Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) has released the official notification for the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST) 2025-2026 for admission to Class VI in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) across India for sesson 2026-27. JNVs are co-educational residential schools under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, providing quality modern education free of cost to talented children mainly from rural areas.

JNVST 2026 Class 6 Admission Overview
Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas are functioning in 27 states and 8 union territories. A total of 654 JNVs are currently functional, and students are admitted in Class 6 through an entrance exam known as JNVST. The test aims to identify talented students from rural and urban areas and provide them access to free education, including lodging, food, uniforms, and textbooks.

JNVST 2026 Class 6 Admission Application Process
Eligible candidates can apply online through the official NVS website. The registration process is completely free of cost, and parents can also visit their nearest JNV help desk to complete the application.
To apply, students need:
- Passport-size photo of student
- Signatures of student and parent
- Aadhaar card or residence certificate
- Study details of Classes III, IV, and V
All documents must be in JPG format with size between 10 KB to 100 KB.
JNVST 2026 Class 6 Admission Eligibility Criteria
- Residency: Candidate must reside and study in Class V in the same district where admission is sought.
- School Type: Candidate must be studying in a Government/Govt.-aided/NIOS/recognized school.
- Age Limit: Born between 1 May 2014 and 31 July 2016 (both dates inclusive).
- Class V Status: Must be studying in Class V during 2025-26 and not have passed Class V earlier.
- Attempts: Only first-time applicants are eligible. Repeat candidates are not allowed.
JNVST 2026 Class 6 Admission Reservation Policy
- Rural Candidates: At least 75% of seats are reserved for rural area students.
- SC/ST: Minimum 15% for SC and 7.5% for ST (subject to district-wise population and not exceeding 50% combined).
- OBC (Central List only): 27% reservation.
- Girls: At least one-third of seats in each JNV are reserved for girls.
- Divyang: Seats reserved for differently-abled students as per norms.
JNVST 2026 Class 6 Admission Selection Test Pattern
The JNVST 2026 will be of 2-hour duration from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM. The paper will have 80 questions for 100 marks, divided into three sections:
