Rashtriya Military School (RMS) Admission 2026-27: Rashtriya Military Schools (RMS) are among the oldest and most reputed residential public schools in India, run under the Ministry of Defence. Established in 1925, these schools provide quality education and prepare students for careers in the armed forces. For the academic session 2026-27, the admission notification has been released for Class VI and Class IX. The admission process will be carried out through the Common Entrance Test (CET). The eligible students can apply online for the RMS Admission 2025 from the website apply-delhi.nielit.gov.in or the direct link given below from 10 September to 9 October 2025.

About Rashtriya Military Schools

Rashtriya Military Schools are fully residential English-medium schools affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). They prepare students for Class X and XII CBSE board examinations and also groom cadets for the UPSC examinations like NDA. There are five RMS campuses located at Chail (Himachal Pradesh), Ajmer and Dholpur (Rajasthan), Belgaum and Bengaluru (Karnataka).

The primary aim of these schools is “to impart quality education and prepare the cadets to join the Defence Services.”

Rashtriya Military School (RMS) Admission Important Dates

  • Online Application Dates: 10 September 2025 (10:00 AM) to 9 October 2025 (08:00 PM)
  • Date of Written Examination: The Common Entrance Test (CET) will be conducted in the month of December 2025. The exact date Will be intimated to registered candidates via SMS and Email

Eligibility Criteria

  • For Class VI: Candidates must be between 10-12 years of age as on 31 March 2026 (born between 1 April 2014 and 31 March 2016). They should have passed or be studying in Class V at the time of admission.
  • For Class IX: Candidates must be between 13-15 years of age as on 31 March 2026 (born between 1 April 2011 and 31 March 2013). They must have passed Class VIII from a recognized school.
  • A relaxation of 6 months in upper age is given to wards of personnel Killed in Action (KIA)

RMS Admission 2026-27 Process

Admission will be based on the Common Entrance Test (CET) followed by an interview. The written test will be OMR-based.

  • Class VI Subjects: English (qualifying only), Intelligence Test, Mathematics, General Knowledge & Current Affairs, followed by an Interview.
  • Class IX Subjects: English, Hindi, Social Science, Mathematics, Science, followed by an Interview.

The syllabus will be of Class V standard for Class VI and Class VIII standard for Class IX. Question papers will be bilingual (English & Hindi) for Class VI and in English only for Class IX

Rashtriya Military School (RMS) Admission Application Fees

Candidates applying for admission to Rashtriya Military Schools for the academic session 2026-27 are required to pay an application fee as per their category. The fee structure is inclusive of GST. For candidates belonging to General, OBC, and OBC (NCL) categories, the fee is ₹680. For SC and ST candidates, the fee is ₹340. Wards of defence personnel of Army, Navy, and Air Force who were Killed in Action (KIA) are required to pay only ₹300 as the application fee. This fee must be paid during the online application process and is non-refundable.

Rashtriya Military School (RMS) Admission Reservation Policy

  • 70% seats for wards of JCOs/OR (Army, Navy, Air Force – serving and retired)
  • 20% seats for wards of Officers (Army, Navy, Air Force – serving and retired)
  • 10% seats for Civilians
  • Reservation as per Government norms: 27% OBC-NCL, 15% SC, 7.5% ST
  • 50 seats reserved for wards of personnel Killed in Action (KIA) across all schools (not more than 15 in one school)
  • 10% seats for girls in both Class VI and Class IX

School Fees and Caution Money

  • OR & equivalents: ₹12,000 per year + ₹1,200 caution money
  • JCO & equivalents: ₹18,000 per year + ₹1,800 caution money
  • Officers: ₹32,000 per year + ₹3,800 caution money
  • Civilians: ₹51,000 per year + ₹6,000 caution money
  • SC/ST candidates: 25% of respective category fee (₹6,000 per year)

No fee will be charged from wards of officers, JCOs/OR who have been Killed in Action

Rashtriya Military School (RMS) Admission Scholarships

15% of non-entitled cadets (wards of service officers and civilians) are eligible for means-cum-merit scholarships.

  • Parents’ income less than ₹3,00,000/year: Full tuition fee waiver
  • Parents’ income ₹3,00,000 – ₹4,50,000/year: 50% tuition fee waiver
