SSB Head Constable Recruitment 2026 Notification Released for 233 Posts, Apply Online

SSB Head Constable Recruitment 2026: The Office of the Director General, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, has released a recruitment notification for the post of Head Constable in different trades. The notification has been published in Employment News (21–27 March 2026) and invites online applications from eligible candidates for a total of 233 vacancies. Interested candidates who meet the required eligibility conditions will be able to submit their applications through the official SSB recruitment website.

The recruitment is being conducted for several technical and non-technical trades, including Steward, Communication, Electrician, and Veterinary. Candidates selected for these posts can be posted anywhere in India or outside India as per the requirements of the force. This recruitment offers a good opportunity for candidates looking to join the Central Armed Police Forces under the Government of India.

Vacancy Details, Age Limit and Qualification

Age Limit: The Age limit for SSB Head Constable Recruitment 2026 is 18-25 years for Electrician and 18-27 Years for other posts. Age relaxation will be applicable for candidates belonging to reserved categories as per the rules of the Government of India.

Vacancy Details

According to the notification, 10% of the vacancies are reserved for Ex-Servicemen candidates.

Educational Qualification

Educational qualifications vary according to the post applied.

For Head Constable (Steward) candidates must have passed 12th class and hold a diploma of minimum two years in Catering and Kitchen Management along with one year working experience as a steward in a hotel or recognized institution.

For Head Constable (Communication) candidates must have 12th with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Diploma in Electronics, Telecommunication, Computer Science or Information Technology from a recognized institution.

For Head Constable (Electrician) candidates should have Matriculation or equivalent along with ITI certificate in Electrician trade or two years work experience in the relevant trade.

For Head Constable (Veterinary) candidates must have 12th pass with Biology and should possess a diploma course in Veterinary Livestock Development Assistant or Animal Husbandry from a recognized institution.

Pay Scale

Selected candidates will receive salary according to Level-4 of the Pay Matrix (₹25,500 – ₹81,100) along with allowances such as Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, Ration Money Allowance and other benefits as applicable to SSB personnel.

Selection Process

The selection of candidates will be carried out through multiple stages of recruitment. Candidates will first have to qualify the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST). After qualifying the physical tests, candidates will appear in the written examination. For the post of Head Constable Electrician, a skill test will also be conducted. Shortlisted candidates will then go through document verification and medical examination before final selection.

Exam Pattern

The written examination will be conducted as a computer based test (CBT). The test will be of 150 marks and three hours duration. Questions will be asked from General Knowledge, Mathematics, Reasoning, General English or Hindi and Technical Subject depending on the post applied. Candidates must secure minimum qualifying marks of 50% for General, EWS and OBC categories and 45% for SC and ST candidates.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

Candidates must also qualify the physical test. For male candidates, the requirement includes running 1.6 km in 6 minutes 30 seconds, while female candidates must complete 800 meters in 4 minutes.
