As per the official statement released on 12 May 2026, the agency has decided to cancel the NEET UG 2026 examination that was conducted on 3 May 2026. NTA stated that the matter had earlier been referred to central agencies on 8 May 2026 for independent verification and necessary action. The agency said the decision was taken to maintain the fair, secure, and credible conduct of national examinations.

NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam Latest Update
According to the notice, the Government of India has approved the cancellation of the NEET UG 2026 examination conducted on 3 May 2026. NTA has confirmed that the examination will now be re-conducted on dates that will be announced separately through official channels.
The agency also mentioned that the examination process in its present form could not be allowed to continue after the inputs and investigative findings received from law enforcement agencies.

Key Decisions Announced by NTA
1. NEET UG 2026 Examination Cancelled
NTA has officially cancelled the NEET UG 2026 examination held on 3 May 2026. The agency said the decision was taken in coordination with central agencies and after reviewing investigative findings.
2. Re-Examination Will Be Conducted
The re-conducted examination dates and the schedule for re-issued admit cards will be communicated later through official channels of the agency.
3. CBI Inquiry Ordered

The registration data, candidature, and examination centres chosen during the May 2026 cycle will automatically be carried forward for the re-conducted examination.

NTA confirmed that no additional examination fee will be charged from candidates for the re-exam.
6. Fees Already Paid Will Be Refunded
The notice stated that fees already paid will be refunded to students and the re-examination will be conducted using NTA’s internal resources.
