Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2027 Notification OUT, Apply Online From 3 August

CLAT 2027: The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) has officially released the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2027 Notification on 2 August 2026. Candidates aspiring for admission to the 5-year integrated UG law programmes at 26 participating National Law Universities can apply online for CLAT 2027 from 3rd August, 2026 to 31st October, 2026.

CLAT is one of the most sought-after entrance exams for students aiming to pursue law in India, granting admission to top National Law Universities through a single centralized test. Since a lot of specific details such as the exact information brochure and seat matrix are yet to be released, candidates are advised to keep checking the official website regularly and thoroughly verify eligibility norms before applying.

Age Limit, Eligibility, and Qualification

Age Limit: There is no upper age limit for candidates appearing for the CLAT 2027 UG Programme. Age Relaxation will be given as per the rules.

Qualification: Candidates must have passed the 10+2 (or an equivalent) examination with a minimum of:

Candidates appearing for their qualifying (Class 12) examination in March/April 2027 are also eligible to apply. However, they must produce proof of having passed the qualifying exam at the time of admission, failing which they will lose their right to admission. Foreign Nationals are not eligible to appear for CLAT and must approach respective NLUs directly for admission.

CLAT 2027 Admission Process

The admission process for CLAT 2027 includes the following stages:

  • Online Application Submission
  • CLAT 2027 Written Examination (Offline Mode)
  • Declaration of Result / Merit List
  • Centralized Counselling Process
  • Document Verification
  • Seat Allotment across Participating NLUs

Tie-Breaking Rule: In case two or more candidates secure equal marks, preference will be given first to higher marks in the Legal Reasoning section, then to higher age, and finally by a computerised draw of lots.

How to Apply for CLAT 2027

Follow these steps to apply for CLAT 2027:

  • Visit the official website: consortiumofnlus.ac.in
  • Register using a personal mobile number and email ID
  • Validate registration via OTP sent to the mobile number
  • Log in using the registered mobile number and password
  • Fill in personal, academic, and category details carefully
  • Upload required documents (see list below)
  • Pay the application fee online
  • Submit the form and save/print the confirmation page

Documents Required for Upload:

  • Front-facing passport-size photograph with plain background
  • Signature of the candidate
  • Category certificate (for SC/ST/OBC applicants)
  • PWD certificate (if applicable)
  • BPL certificate (if applicable)

All documents must be uploaded in PDF format. Note: Once the application is submitted and fee paid, the program, category, and BPL field cannot be changed.
