IIM CAT 2025: Notification, Registration, Exam Date, Eligibility, Exam Pattern

IIM CAT 2025: The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) will conduct the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2025 on Sunday, November 30, 2025, for admission to MBA and PhD programmes in 21 IIMs and several other top B-schools in India. IIM Kozhikode is the organizing institute for this year’s exam. CAT 2025 will be held in three sessions across 170 cities, and registration will begin from August 1, 2025, on the official website iimcat.ac.in.

Interested candidates can apply online and choose up to five test cities. CAT scores are accepted by IIMs and many non-IIM institutions. Candidates are advised to register early and check all details carefully before submitting the application form.

IIM CAT 2025 Registration Fees

  • ₹1300 for SC/ST/PwD
  • ₹2600 for all other candidates

The fee is non-refundable and covers all programme applications across IIMs. Candidates must pay only once.

IIM CAT 2025 Eligibility Criteria

  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PwD)
  • Final year students or those awaiting results can also apply
  • Candidates with CA/CS/ICWA/FIAI professional degrees are also eligible

Note: SC/ ST/ OBC-NCL/ EWS/ PwD certificates must be valid and uploaded during registration. No category change will be allowed after registration.

IIM CAT 2025 Exam Pattern

IIM CAT 2025 will be a computer-based test (CBT) conducted in three sessions on a single day – Sunday, November 30, 2025. The total exam duration will be 120 minutes (2 hours) and it will be divided into three sections, each of 40 minutes. Candidates cannot switch between sections while attempting the test.

Here’s a breakdown of each section:

  1. Section I: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC)
    • Focuses on English language skills
    • Includes Reading Comprehension passages and Verbal Ability questions like para-jumbles, odd sentence out, sentence completion, and summary-based questions
    • Tests comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, and logical structure of English
  2. Section II: Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR)
    • Includes data interpretation sets like tables, graphs, charts, and caselets
    • Logical reasoning includes puzzles, seating arrangements, Venn diagrams, and number/letter patterns
    • Focuses on analytical thinking, calculation skills, and logical problem-solving
  3. Section III: Quantitative Ability (QA)
    • Based on Mathematics from class 10th level
    • Topics include arithmetic, algebra, geometry, number systems, modern math, and mensuration
    • Tests numerical ability, speed, and accuracy

  • Total Duration: 120 minutes (40 minutes per section)
  • Mode: Computer-based test (CBT)
  • Type of Questions:
    • MCQs (Multiple Choice Questions) with negative marking for wrong answers
    • Non-MCQs (TITA – Type In The Answer) with no negative marking
  • Medium: English only
  • Navigation: Once a section starts, candidates must complete it before moving to the next. No going back.
